Hypnosis

Hypnosis

Having a new job and a young family my stress levels got to the point of me considering antidepressants. My wife saw a magazine article about Hypnotherapy and I thought I would give it a try. I am more relaxed and can cope with things on a sensible level. Peter Masters Woking

I am no longer trapped by smoking! It has crossed my mind a few times but I am not tempted to go back to a bad habit. I feel healthier, my breathing is better and I am proud of myself. Debbie Surrey

My attitude to food has changed since seeing you and I now realise why I was comfort eating which piled on the pounds. I am much happier. Mrs Andrews Woking

Anyone who has suffered PMT knows how I felt every month. It is such a relief to get rid of the cramps, pain and headaches. Thanks a million. Tracie Guildford

Hypnosis is a state of mind enhanced by mental and physical relaxation in which the sub-conscious is able to communicate with the conscious mind. Self Hypnosis is brought about, unaided, by oneself, whereas Hypnotherapy is a process utilized by a trained professional to encourage beneficial change to occur for the client with their permission.

The aim of Hypnotherapy is to assist the client to find alternatives to their present unsatisfactory ways of thinking, feeling and behaving. It also helps clients to become more accepting, both of themselves and others, and can be most useful in personal development and unlocking potential.

There is a misconception that Hypnosis is achieved by the swinging of a watch, but actually, the Hypnotherapist works with the client’s unconscious mind by enlisting their own imagination whilst using a side range of techniques, which are meaningful to the individual, from storytelling, metaphor or symbolism to the use of direct suggestion.

It is helpful if the client is personally motivated to change, although a belief in the possibility that positive change can happen (an open mind) is normally a sufficient starting point. Also the depth of trance does not necessarily dictate the quality of ‘change work’ and beneficial results often occur when the individual does not feel they have been in a trance state.

Please remember that although Hypnotherapy can be extraordinarily effective in change work it is not magic, patience is often rewarded with positive results.
