Weight Loss

Most people at sometime have attempted to lose weight, usually by ‘fad’ dieting. These create a yo-yo effect – weight loss whilst on the regime then gaining weight once the diet is finished. This yo-yo effect illustrates the importance of dealing with the causes of overeating!

No amount of dieting will help with sustainable weight control unless you deal with the emotional aspects and negative beliefs. These could be eating when not physically hungry because you are bored, sad or stressed etc – rewarding yourself with food as you have eaten very little then binge to compensate – have excuses why you can not lose weight saying you have a slow metabolism or its my age etc.

The therapies we use help the client resolve these aspects and beliefs, alongside the individuals desire to change, and together help create a strong foundation for lasting change.

Weight loss should always be a steady process and yo-yo dieting, fad regimes, bingeing, bulimia, anorexia etc, can have an adverse effect on your body and wellbeing. There are of course medical reasons why someone may be unable to lose weight and if this is the case please seek your doctors advice.
